There are so very many skin care brands available on the market these days that it can be stressful and confusing to choose the right products. A good rule to follow, is to use products that are both environmentally sound and non toxic to you as well. For safe skin care products and cosmetics that follow a 5 step screening process – look to Purium’s Bio line to help you age gracefully.
All organic beauty and personal care products have to meet the United States Department of Agriculture National Organic Program (USDA NOP) standard, the same standard to which organic food must be certified under U.S. law.
So what are safe skin care standards?
Products that advertise as organic must meet the standards below, so read on to see if your products meet these requirements. If not, you might want to change things up.
- Products making an “Organic” product claim must be certified to the USDA’s National Organic Program standard for organic (>95%) products.
- Products making a “Made with Organic ________” claim must be certified to the USDA’s National Organic Program standard for Made with Organic (>70%) products.
- Products making a “Contains Organic _______” claim must be certified to the NSF/ANSI 305 Organic Personal Care Standard.
- Products listing an organic ingredient in the “Ingredients:” listing must be certified to the USDA NOP standard.
